About the Prison Officers Pistol Club
Established 1937 • New South Wales
Welcome to POPC
The Prison Officers Pistol Club (POPC) is a New South Wales sporting pistol club dedicated to promoting safe, responsible and enjoyable participation in the sport of target shooting.
Our club brings members together through organised shooting activities, friendly competition and a shared interest in developing their skills.
Whether you are an experienced competitor or interested in learning more about the sport, POPC values safety, sportsmanship, discipline and friendship.
Our History — Established 1937
The Prison Officers Pistol Club was established in 1937 to provide prison officers with an opportunity to maintain and develop their proficiency in the use of firearms.
What began as a practical means of maintaining professional firearms skills has evolved into a sporting pistol club with a strong emphasis on safety, marksmanship, competition and camaraderie.
Today, POPC continues this proud tradition, bringing together current and former correctional officers and their immediate families through the sport of target shooting.
While the club has evolved over the decades, its commitment to Sport, Discipline and Friendship remains at the heart of POPC.
